Introducing Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the latest additions to our smartphone lineup. These cutting-edge devices are designed to provide a more personalized and helpful experience, with advanced cameras, innovative sensors, and a range of exciting features.
Crafted by Google and driven by the power of Google Tensor G3, these phones are set to receive seven years of software updates, encompassing Android OS upgrades, security enhancements, and regular Feature Drops. Let’s take a closer look at these new phones, from their elegant designs and novel sensors to the enhanced camera capabilities.
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro boast sophisticated aesthetics, featuring sleek silhouettes, premium metal finishes, and eco-friendly materials.
Pixel 8, with its refined contours and more compact form compared to Pixel 7, offers a comfortable grip. Its 6.2-inch Actua display delivers exceptional clarity, being 42% brighter than Pixel 7’s screen. Available in Rose, Hazel, and Obsidian, Pixel 8 exhibits satin metal finishes and a polished glass back.
On the other hand, Pixel 8 Pro boasts a 6.7-inch Super Actua display, our brightest yet, ensuring vivid Ultra HDR images even in direct sunlight. It sports a matte glass back, a polished aluminum frame, and comes in three appealing colors: Porcelain, Bay, and Obsidian.
The Pixel 8 Pro features a new temperature sensor on its back, allowing quick temperature checks of objects, from checking pan heat to ensuring the right temperature for your baby’s bottle. Additionally, we’ve applied for FDA clearance to enable Pixel’s Thermometer App for measuring and recording body temperature, seamlessly integrating with Fitbit.
Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come equipped with enhanced camera systems, delivering remarkable photo and video quality along with groundbreaking editing tools.
The Pixel 8 Pro’s camera suite has undergone significant upgrades, starting with the main camera, which excels in low-light photography and videography. The larger ultrawide lens enhances Macro Focus, the telephoto lens captures 56% more light and delivers optical-quality 10x photos, and the front-facing camera now features autofocus for top-notch selfies.
Pixel 8 shares the same updated main camera and introduces a new ultrawide lens, enabling Macro Focus.
The camera app boasts an intuitive redesign, making it easier to access and utilize your preferred photo and video modes. For Pixel 8 Pro users, Pro Controls offer more creative control over the Pixel Camera, with settings like shutter speed, ISO, and 50 MP photos throughout the zoom range.
To address common photo challenges, features like Best Take1 utilize existing photos to create the perfect shot, while the Magic Editor in Google Photos leverages generative AI to enhance your photos with ease. Additionally, the Audio Magic Eraser1 reduces unwanted sounds in your videos, and Pixel 8 Pro’s upcoming Video Boost enhances video quality through advanced processing.
Pixel 8 introduces time-saving features, including Summarize, which generates webpage summaries, and the ability to have your Pixel read and translate webpages aloud. Moreover, Pixel’s improved AI understands natural speech, enabling smoother interactions and better multitasking.
Call Screen has also been enhanced to reduce spam calls by 50% on average, with more realistic voice responses and context-based reply suggestions.
Pixel’s security is bolstered by Google Tensor G3 and the Titan M2 security chip, achieving the highest Android biometric class for Face Unlock, enabling secure access to banking and payment apps like Google Wallet.
These devices come with seven years of software support, a first for Pixel phones, ensuring a secure and up-to-date experience with OS upgrades, security patches, and regular Feature Drops.
You can pre-order your Pixel 8 starting at $699 or Pixel 8 Pro from $999, with an exciting offer of a complimentary Pixel Watch 2 for Pixel 8 Pro pre-orders. These devices are also available for pre-order through Google Fi Wireless, offering great deals and integrated connectivity for the Pixel Watch 2 at no additional cost.
Both phones, along with a range of cases from us and our partners, will be available at the Google Store and our retail partners starting on October 12th.
